Message from the Organizer
The third TEDxNJIT proved to be our most successful yet. We appreciate all the continued support of our iniative to bring attention to Newark, a city often associated with a bad connotation, and show that this city has plenty of positive offerings, from its expanding business and economic development, to its social and cultural aspects. TEDxNJIT Connections brought in record numbers for the history of the event and we hope we can continue to improve and develop the program even further. With international and local viewers, we hope to build this audience even further and help to share ideas that are really worth sharing.

TEDxNJIT Mission
TEDxNJIT's mission is to create an environment that will spark new ideas, motivate students and other individuals to follow through on their ideas, as well as encourage them to participate more actively in making a change in their communities.
TEDxNJIT follows other prestigious TEDx university events such as those at Harvard and Princeton. TEDxNJIT not only targets its own population, but those of the schools surrounding it, Rutgers, Essex County College and UMDNJ, as well as the entire Newark community.

Ly is a third year biology major at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the Albert Dorman Honors College and the College of Science and Liberal Arts. He has been watching TED videos since early in high school but was only initially introuduced to TEDx in his first year of college at NJIT.
Ly has founded and been actively organizing TEDx events on the NJIT campus since the summer of 2011. Due to his interests in innovation and entrepreneurship, the inaugural TEDxNJIT event was themed Invention to Venture. After comments and feedback, he has made changes to the event to help it grow into an increasingly popular program. TEDxNJIT Sustainability, the second TEDxNJIT event was designed in hopes of being able to enlighten the urban community on the growing sustainability movement. These talks were specifically meaningful to people living in an urban environment such as Newark. TEDxNJIT Connections, to be held in April 2013, aims to target how technology and digital media today has been more and more impactful on life and social decisions.
He has been involved with all aspects of planning, development and marketing of these events. SInce the first event, he has formed a team with a growing board of faculty advisors and a growing team of student volunteers.
